Endocannabinoid System
Everything except insects have an endocannabinoid system and they can benefit from CBD and cannabis products. Research shows us that the reason we have more disease, even with better medical care, is because we are all severely deficient in cannabinoids from 100 years of prohibition. When you replace cannabinoids, people (and pets) begin to get healthier. The theory is called Endocannabinoid Deficiency Syndrome. This theory, posited in 2001, was backed up by another study and supported in 2016. There have been so many studies since the 70s on cannabis and CBD. Now with Congress passing HR5657, the Medical Marijuana Research Act, this author expect to see many more coming soon.
According to the National Institute of Health “The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a widespread neuromodulatory system that plays important roles in central nervous system (CNS) development, synaptic plasticity, and the response to endogenous and environmental insults.” This system runs out entire body and is responsible for the regulation of most of our body systems. Engaging the endocannabinoid system allows it to bring your body closer to homeostatis. It regulates your blood sugar, blood pressure, hormone levels, and so much more.
Can CBD really help my babies tolerate the fireworks and storms and other things that cause them anxiety??
One of the first studies ever done at Cornell University was for dogs and osteoarthritis. They found it helped 80% of dogs with their pain!! CBD for pets is generally full spectrum CBD, which means CBD with 0.3% of THC. This helps with the entourage effect. This fancy term means that when you use more of the whole plant cannabis together, it works better! Don’t worry, it won’t get your pet “high.” There have been similar studies on pets seizures, cancers, and more. In each study they found that pets improved on CBD. However, anecdotally, ask any pet owner that gives their high strung animal CBD and they will tell you how much it helps them! Seeing really is believing!
