What exactly is Himilayan Honey or Mad Honey?
Who’s heard of Mad Honey?? With a new documentary out (Hallucinogen Honey Hunters) and a plug on Joe Rogan’s podcast, this delicious honey is definitely picking up steam! You can get a lot of interesting information and blog posts here, but we’re going to tell you a little about it right here! First things first, on Joe Rogan’s podcast they discuss the hallucinogenic properties of this honey. They claim they tried 6 Tablespoons of the honey to recreate a hallucinogenic experience. However, we have not been able to re-create that and we don’t want to make claims that are unsubstantiated. We put 1 Tablespoon of honey in each brownie or drink. This is an average daily dose according to our source. This amount will put you in an excellent mood, which is the effect we HAVE been able to recreate. You can check out our treats right here.
A little history on Mad Honey
Himalayan honey, also known as Mad Honey has been used for ages by the residents of the mountainous regions of Nepal to improve the quality of life in many ways. It is sourced from the High Mountains of Nepal by the Nepal Honey Hunters. Rhododendron flowers are toxic, but the honey the bees make filters out the toxicity. The presence of grayanotoxin (from the flowers) is the distinctive feature of Mad Honey. Many people all around the world can’t get enough of this product as they continue to reap its benefits for diabetes, boosting libido, weight loss, and improved mental health.
Fun Fact: Only roughly two of the world’s 700 rhododendron species possess grayanotoxin.
